Name: From the Arabic word kurkum for yellow, which refers to the colour of the rhizomes or the flowers of Curcuma longa.
Origin: South East Asia
Description: Its inflorescence on the upper bract comes in pink, lilac or white. Its actual small flowers are found in the lower green bract. It has a sweet and spicy scent.
Care Tips: Long lasting; it can keep up to 22 days.

Facts: Curcuma is part of the ginger family with about 70 species. It is related to tumeric (Curcuma longa), which is used widely as food colouring and is a principal ingredient in curry powder.
