Fashion Flowers For Autumn - Harvest Mix
Autumn is a time of abundance - nuts and berries
and fruits and flowers ripen and fall. Colours are rich, warm, deep
- berry reds, wine-reds, plums, warm purples, yellow-greens, greengage
greens, sunset oranges. The colours of jams and chutneys, pickles
and pies. These colours are enlivened by the addition of creamy
white touches, like a mushroom bursting out of the leaf litter on
the forest floor.
The mood of the autumn 2000 trend, Harvest Mix,
is that of Harvest Festival - nature's seasonal bounty. This suits
the autumn mood of the "fruits of one's labour" - a return
on investment - and the new interest in organic and home-grown produce.
This fecundity is contrasted with the sculptured clean lines of
the designs - many with strong Japanese influences in both the containers
and the placement of foliage and flowers.
