  • Name - Pronounced pa-KEE-po-dium which means "with thick stem" in Greek. Pachypodium lamerei is more commonly known as Madagascar palm.
  • Description - Short and thick prickly trunk with elongated leaves.
  • Origin - Madagascar.
  • Family - Apocynaceae.
  • Care tips - Although its tuberous trunk stores water, it needs plenty of water, light and warmth during the summer and less water during the winter.
  • Trivia - They are to some extent poisonous and the leaves should be cleared away immediately from pets or children.
