Rhipsalis cassutha
Name - Pronounced rip-SAL-iss, its common name is mistletoe cactus.
Description - It is an epiphytic (it lives on other plants and
not in soil) perennial cactus with hanging, variously formed stems. If it flowers
they are followed by spherical, translucent berries. Origin
- Florida, South America, Sri Lanka and Tropical Africa Family
- Cactaceae Varieties - Rhipsalis cassutha and other Rhipsalis
varieties that produce mistletoe-like berries are all known as misteltoe cactus.
Care Tips - partial shade and rich, well-drained soil is preferred
and 80% humidity, higher than for most cacti. Water very lightly in winter and
increase watering when buds begin to form after winter. Mist leaves frequently.Trivia
