Folk Design - Plants Calender

What better way to get back to nature than bringing the outdoors in to create your own special sacred space? Whether you enjoy cosy nights in or a wild night out, we've got the right plant for your personality or interior.

Lily: Viva Diva
The hottest indoor plant for this Autumn is the Lily plant, by far the diva of the bulb flowers with its luscious, bountiful flowers and feminine colouring.
As the days shorten and a chill cools the once balmy Summer evenings, Lily plants perk up the atmosphere with their spicy scent and clear colours. Their pollen reminds us of warming spices used in cooking, but if you want to avoid staining, remove the anthers as the flower is opening!

Solanum: Humbling Homemaker
Another fashionable plant for Autumn is Solanum, or Christmas Cherry. It has branches of deep-green or variegated leaves and cute little red fruits. It's gorgeous for the kitchen, as the fruits look like miniature tomatoes – great for Autumn, when we're thinking of harvest-time.

Chrysanthemum: Earth Mother
Good old chrysanthemums are really chic as a houseplant, too – they bloom for weeks, need minimal care and have big, blowsy blooms, as seen echoed on the most fashionable fabrics and prints for interiors. Lots of great fashion designers use Chrysanthemum flowers as their inspiration, so 'Pot-Mum' plants mean you can keep the look alive for longer.

Nephrolepsis: Nurturing Naturalist
If green is your thing then go for a Nephrolepsis, or Boston fern. They're one of the best plants at removing harmful chemicals from the air, and the leaves are reproduced on this season's hottest botanical prints by great interiors designers like  Manuel Canovas. Give your kids room a quick update with one of these easy-going plants – they improve air quality, so are great for childhood asthma, and like to be sprayed – even more fun to do with a water-pistol!
